The brand Audemars Piguet perhaps is the only brand in watchmaking that blends traditional heritage of classics and functionality with novelty and up-to-dateness. Just recently the Royal Oak series has put out a new skeletonized watch of the same name – Skeleton.
In expectation of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Skeleton a year passed after the first introduction of a new timepiece in January, 2010 at SIHH 2010. The first official press images prove that it’s not just a watch, it’s a unique work of art.
This latest edition is relieved of complexity. Nevertheless, making such a timepiece is utterly tangled. To skeletonize and carve the slightest details by hand takes plenty time. But the result is worth admiring: Calibre 3129 mechanical movement, the ‘openworked’ system of 253 parts. The 39mm case will be available in two variants: in steel or in 18-carat pink gold. As for the strap, there will be a choice between alligator leather of the brown color and stainless steel.
This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Skeleton watch is a vivid illustration of artistry and creativeness of AP masters.
Retail price for Royal Oak Skeleton Stainless Steel watch is $30,100 and $46,500 for Royal Oak Skeleton Pink Gold.
