For everyone, who has a dog it is not surprising that his cookie little pet never misses the breakfast. Moreover, the dog is always ready to meet its master after a workday, school or regular training in the gym.
Practically all dogs get up at the same time in the morning and at the same time they go to sleep. Most dogs like to sleep during the day time. And again they choose the same time period. Others ask to go out to potty at the same time everyday.
Dogs know the difference between the lengths of time. For example, if you are late from work or a party, you’ll find you dog right near the door waiting for you and of course happy more then ever.
There was a dog that knew its master to arrive on the 5:30 train each day. “Doglike dog” was waiting for him each time the train was pulling into the station. One day however, the train arrived on time as usual, but dog’s master didn’t get off it. The dog was waiting for hours, but what pet didn’t know was that his master had been rushed to the hospital and had died. Every day for the rest of its life faithful shaggy friend was at the train station at 5:30 waiting for its departed master. Kind people, who worked there on the station, began to feed the dog until its death right there at the station still waiting for its disappeared master.
My dog always feels when I am going to visit relatives in another country and that I won’t be at home for several weeks. This makes my doggy tear the books for reading that I keep near my bad. So in this manner my dog shows that it is disappointed that the time of our long walks ended for a while.
Stories like these are rather common. The reason for such a wonderful sense of time lies in the biological clocks that dogs have in their brain. These biological clocks are cells deep in the brain that produce enzymes, and then break down the enzymes within a 24 hour period. So dogs just know what time of day it is.
Another time orienteer for a dog is the sun. It has something to do with the fiery star, even though it may not be able to see the sun through the window.
Of course, dogs can’t look at a clock and tell that it is 5:00 p.m. But they do know the events that usually occur at that particular time. And this is another reason why dogs are aware of the time. For example a trivial event – your water heater makes that boiling sound at the same time every day. Thus this sound signalizes to the dog what time of day it is.
So this is it. Dogs really have the ability to know the time within 15 minutes and know the difference between the lengths of time. And you’d better not to make your favorite pet wait too long!
